Rødovre, Monday September 28 2009 - Kvisgaards Maskinfabrik has signed
a long-term cooperation agreement with Danish defense and aerospace company Terma.
The agreement targets development and production of aluminum, titanium, and steel structures
and special assignments.
The cooperation between the two companies has grown considerably over the past
three years. Currently, the cooperation includes deliveries for several of Terma’s Business
Areas including ATD houses for cockpit displays (Advanced Threat Display) for the F-16 fighter and other aircraft and helicopters.
- Our cooperation with Terma is an excellent example of good synergy. We have gained considerable know-how on the documentation requirements for production of items for
defense purposes. Terma has a partner which contributes with extensive knowledge of the detailed design of structures for e.g. electron beam welding which only a handful of companies
in Denmark master, "says Director Kim Kvisgaard.
- Recently, Kvisgaard acquired a company specializing in the machining of advanced
aluminum items. This took place in expectation that the cooperation with Terma will continue to grow, e.g. as a result of Terma’s commitment to the F-35 JSF program, in which we also eye an interesting potential in the long term. Therefore, I am very pleased that we can seal the cooperation with an actual agreement today, says Kim Kvisgaard.
- Close, long-term strategic partnerships with key suppliers will become even more important
for Terma in the coming years. We have an international growth strategy which implies
increased cooperation with partners and suppliers who can contribute to Terma’s growth and development via their expertise, says Vice President, Strategic Marketing Jørn Henrik Levy Rasmussen.
- Terma places the same requirements on our partners which our customers place on us.
In particular, Kvisgaard has demonstrated its willingness and ability to adapt to the specific requirements that you must meet as a supplier within the international defense industry.
Combined with the company’s expertise, this is a key reason why we enter into this strategic partnership today, says Jørn Henrik Levy Rasmussen.
Kvisgaard functions as a sub-supplier to the engineering industry in Denmark and abroad. In recent years, the production of complex items in small series has constituted an increasing share of the company’s revenue. Kvisgaard is capable of handling extensive technical documentation and offers complete traceability and a metrology competence. The organizational structure has made it possible to for Kvisgaard to rapidly adjust to customer requirements.
The business activities of high-tech company Terma include products and systems for a number of non-defense, defense and security applications, including command and control systems, radar systems, electronic warfare systems, space technology, and aeronautic structures for high-performance military aircraft.
Terma A/S is headquartered in Aarhus and maintains Danish departments at Herlev and Grenaa. The company realized 2008/09 sales of approximately USD 200 million with an export share of more than 80 %. Terma employs approximately 1,300 people worldwide and has operations in a number of European countries, Singapore and in the U.S.
